Film: Process & Product

COMM: 306

Thanks to Professor Dunn, I now have a new way of looking at films.

Visions of Light (a documentary about cinematography), Provided a history of the how film making got it’s start.

Shallow Grave (directed by Danny Boyle) starring Ewan McGregor, This was a weird movie.  The characters changed in the middle of the film.

The Cutting Edge (a documentary about film editing—NOT the ice skating movie),

Raise the Red Lantern (directed by Zhang Yimou), a foreign firm that you had to read the words on the screen and try to understand the plot.

Thelma and Louise: Good Ole Thelma and Louise. A classic film of how women try to hold their own in society.

Raising Arizona: Hated it.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: This film reminded me of a science fiction movie.  Again another film you needed to watch multiple times to  gain a grasp on the plot.

The Bicycle Thief (directed by Vittorio De Sica), Foreign film about how the life was depression hit Europe after the war and the measures people took to provide for their family.

The 400 Blows (directed by Francois Truffaut).

Citizen Kane: This is rated as one of the all time best films ever produced.  Citizen Kane (Orson Well) did an outstanding job in his role.  Putting the pieces together of his life was an interesting task only to discover, he died a lonely man.
